I write romance because there is nothing else quite like that window of time — before. Before the certainty, before the forever, before you know how it ends. The insecurity, the not-knowing, the slow accumulation of moments that tip two people toward each other. That space is where everything feels possible and nothing is guaranteed. Everybody gets butterflies. Everybody roots for them. That’s why I’m here.
My debut novel, TrueBorn: We’ve Waited A Thousand Years, was born out of frustration — the best kind. I’d read one too many paranormal romances built around the same ole’ male lead, and I decided to write the book I actually wanted to read. A female werewolf alpha, unexpectedly powerful, a fantastic temper, and completely her own.
When I’m not writing, I’m a mom of three, a gardener, a cook, a gift-wrapper of probably excessive dedication, and someone who cannot resist learning something new. I started piano at fifty. At eighteen I did stand-up comedy and while that was a blast, I decided to finish college — a decision I stand by, though the open mic nights were formative. I have hiked exactly one Colorado fourteener, which in this state is legally required to mention and also just barely counts.
I believe a great romance ending should feel inevitable — not because it was predictable, but because by the time you get there, you can’t imagine it ending any other way. I want readers to close the book happy, a little bereft, and already attached to characters they didn’t expect to love. If I’ve done that? I’ve done my job.
